Good news for Indians living in these 10 countries! You can use UPI like in India!

You know how popular UPI is in India. With this, Indians in other countries are also waiting for the opportunity to use it abroad. For such people the Lord has given a great good news. NPCI organization has allowed NRIs from 10 countries including US, Canada and UAE to transfer money using UPI platform using nRE/NRO accounts. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) said in a statement that it is receiving requests to allow residents to use international mobile numbers to conduct transactions on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). In which countries?

According to the announcement, a circular dated January 10 asked NPCI and UPI partners to set up a mechanism by April 30 under which Indians holding NRE/NRO accounts would be allowed to transfer funds using their international mobile numbers.

To enable these services, the facility will be available to non-residents of 10 countries: Singapore, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Oman, Qatar, USA, Saudi Arabia, UAE and United Kingdom.

Can be linked to an international SIM

Vishwas Patel, chairman of the Payments Council of India, said that when NRIs come to India, they will have a major facility in the form of 'facility of payment/money transfer'. MD Mandar Agashe, founder of Sarvatra Technologies, said that NRIs could not access the UPI network until now as SIM binding technology, an important security feature of UPI, was only available for Indian SIM card phones.

"NRIs should link their NRE and NRO accounts linked to their international SIM to UPI and use it like other Indian UPI users for merchant payments as well as peer-to-peer payments," said Agashe.

Also know what precautions to take when using uPI. Otherwise you might get cheated. Do not share your UPI PIN with anyone. Do not share your 6 or 4-digit UPI PIN with anyone. UPI asks for PIN before every transaction. When you link your UPI ID to your bank account.. you need to set up a secret PIN. After that secure payments can be made just like an ATM PIN. But this UPI PIN should be kept personal. Do not share with anyone. Follow these tips

* You should always keep a lock on your phone. The app can be opened for secure transaction through the uPI app.

* Verify UPI ID before you make payment Always double check receiver UPI ID. A wrong transaction can be avoided. Helps you send money to someone else.

* Better not to use multiple UPI apps. You can always scan their QR code in same app or ask for UPI ID for transactions in different apps.

* Do not click on suspicious links. UPI users should not click on any links received through SMS or email. Recognize that it is a fraud click scam. Do not click on any unverified or phishing links on your phone. Hacking your phone can steal your identity as well as your banking passwords and PINs. These links appear frequently
